The drain of late nights

OK, so this post is in response to Jennie's (my sister's) reaction to a serious comment made by me. It brought home to me how pathetic I am. Though I no longer require the 12 hours of sleep that I used to enjoy prior to Ryan, I do require at least 7-8 hours in order to be coherant.

Last night was a dinner engagement with my soon to be employer. I used to work with Marsha and she is wonderful. I can't wait to work under her and help her business grow. She is one of the few people that I highly respect in all aspects of her life. If she says she will do something, guess what, she actually does it! It will be quite a change from my last employer and I can't wait to get started.

Anyway, dinner was set for 6:30PM at Outback. Now, Bill and I don't take Ryan out to restaurants very often, and if we do, it is for 1 hour or less. So I knew much energy would be expended on keeping him occupied. I had a babysitter, but then learned that this was to be a 'family' event. So after I had finished cleaning the bathroom, I layed down to take a nap. Now here comes the comment to Jennie that made me sound so pathetic. "I had to take a nap if I'm going to be out till 8:30PM". Jennie had been expecting maybe 10 or 11PM, but no, I am pathetic and must be home before 9PM and tucked snuggly in bed. So let the laughing commense. I know I am pitiful. I have never been an early riser until my little alarm clock made me. Now my night life is seriously hindered. What's the point of a late night when I know I will pay for it dearly in the end?

You kill me kiddo. I know you won't probably see this comment until morning since it is close to 8:00 and almost your bedtime. LOL!!!! Well I guess being in bed early is better than those mothers that are out all night long everynight. I just didn't think that "all" night was 8:30.

I can almost recall a time in my life that I got at least 3-4 hours uninterrupted, but it is such a faint memory that I'm unsure if it was real or just a dream. I was once told an old fairytale that I used to be able to sleep for straight 12 hours!! Can you believe the tall tales!!! What kind of a person has that much time?
